Son: "Dearest father, at heart you are still only a sweet little boy."
Father: Who is now smiling gently, "After all I have experienced and taught you, how can you say such things to me?"
Son: "Do you see your grandson there? He is the seed of your own seed. Notice how he reacts with such emotion to the music? Do you see how he listens to the song that he likes? The song is sad to him, but still he loves it so. He is happy when listening, but when the song mentions crying – he gets tears in his eyes and his lips tremble as he sings, yet he still sings along, albeit with trouble from the inner conflict which he is experiencing, experiencing by feeling emotion without reason or understanding. What he feels is more than understanding; these feelings are a pure emanation from his soul."
"Is this any different from when you reflect on the days of your parents and try to speak of them? We see the same emotions, and our feeble attempt to repress them, except we explain and try to reason them differently only because there are some 72 years difference in age between the two of you. However, maybe there are less years separating you than you realize...
We say he is a sweet boy because he is able to innocently express himself without fear when the most basic of human emotions overwhelm him, why then are we not held to the same standards when we experience the same unbridled emotions?”
In conclusion - I believe our love and tenderness never fade, only the masks we wear to conceal it.
