Where does Sea Glass come from?
Asked by an innocent five year old,
As we walked along the Jersey shore,
Frosted pieces of green, blue, gold
Carefully placed in her colorful pail.
I could simply say: "I do not know."
How do you tell a young child
What she thinks are things of beauty
Come from bottles carelessly thrown
Into our rivers, lakes, and oceans
By those who have little respect
For Mother Earth without relent
And the broken shards she does collect
Makes for a cleaner environment?
