The Mermaid

Do You believe in Mermaids?
A question someone put to me.
What then is a mermaid?
Does she swim the seven seas?
And sing for all the sailors?
And charm them, if you please?
Some say her home's Atlantis,
Sitting on the ocean floor,
A beautiful white palace,
With an ornate golden door.
Placed there by an earthquake,
Marble columns, earthen floor.
As she sings of all its glories
Is Atlantis - fact - or lore.

  • Poets are definitely artists - using their hands to write - their heads to form words - and their hearts to bring emotion and life to those words:

    • He who works with his hands is a laborer. He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman. He who works with his hands and his head and his heart is an artist. – St Francis of Assisi
